Rashtrakudas of Western India 735 - 982 AD
In the early medieval period Rashtrakuda dynasty become the second greatest in India. They have conquered almost all of western India.
The medieval travellers Suleiman (851 AD), Ibn Khardaba (912 AD) and Al Masudi (944 AD) wrote the Rashtrakuda empire being the largest of the four major rulers of the world.
The gold Gadyana and Pagoda issues of Rashtrakudas are one of the finest and unique in style and design.
Some coinage has pseudo - Arabic inscriptions borrowed from the Baghdad Caliphate.
The "Varaha" avatar or boar incarnation of Vishnu was the distinct hallmark of their coinage and was the main theme on some issues, which was adopted by later dynasties of Vijayanagara and Kakatiyas.
