Sharabhpurias of Chhatisgarh
The Sharabhpurias dynasty of Mahakosala belonged to the Kharun River Valley Civilization near Tarighat 22 miles of Raipur.
The little that known of this dynasty is from the seventeen copper plates that were issued by these rulers and their coinage. There is no stone inscription discovered so far of this dynasty. They had been the feudal chiefs under the Guptas and and their dynasty lasted for about a century from 475 to 590 AD.
Interestingly the "Sharabhpuriya" coins were manufactured using 'repousse' technique, a metal working technique in which malleable metal is shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief. 'Chasing' the opposite of 'repousse' is used to refine the design on the front.
These coins were unobtainable until a small hoard was discovered a few years ago and still considered rare.
