Mughal Empire
Zahir - ud - din Muhammad Babur, a patrilinear descendent of Timur and matrilinear descendent of Genghis Khan, was a conqueror from central Asia who laid the foundation of Mughal Empire in the Indian subcontinent. His roots have brought the Persian ethos to the subcontinent.
Babur suffered many short-lived victories and was without shelter and in exile in Tashkent during 1490s AD. In 1499 he wrote "I endured much poverty and humiliation. No country and hope of one". It is only after losing the city of Samarkand in central Asia twice that he drew his focus to the Indian subcontinent.
Babur defeated Ibrahim Lodhi in the first battle of Panipat in 1526. After a four years reign, Babur died and buried in Kabul in Afghanistan. Babur is considered as a national hero in Uzbekistan and his songs have become Uzbek folklore. He is also held in high esteem in Afghanistan, Iran and Kyrgyzstan too.
Specifics of the coin shown below
Silver Shahrukhi issued during the early years of Babur's reign (1526 - 1530 AD).
Countermarked 'adl babur ghazi' in hexafoil on an earlier issue.
