Hyder Ali (reign - 1763 - 1781 AD)

A hero of the struggle to the British advances during the first two Anglo - Mysore wars, he reigned between 1763 and 1782 AD. He is famous for his iron cased Mysore rockets.
Having distinguished himself militarily, Hyder came to dominate the titular monarch Krishnaraja Wodeyar II and had become the defacto ruler of Mysore.
Having struck alliance with the French, throughout the Carnatic Wars, Hyder and his battalions served alongside French commanders Duplex, Lally and de Bussy.
Although an illiterate his prodigious memory and financial acumen were the chief reason for for his rise to power.
