Chastana - 78 - 130 AD
Chastana's reign started in 78 AD and the beginning of Saka Era is widely attributed to his ascension of throne.
He belonged to the Kardamaka dynasty more popularly known as the Western Kshatrapas.
Ptolemy in his book "Geographia" had made extensive references of the Chastana ruling a large area of western India.
The Kushans in the North and Satavahanas in the Central India were their contemporaries.
The rulers of this dynasty were defeated by Gautamiputra Satakarni and was completely defeated by Chandragupta II of Gupta Empire in 4 th century AD.
